Hi,
Does anyone here have experience of know of an RFID type timing system that could be used for time trials.
I know there are big expensive systems but I'm looking to employ something simpe & cheap at club level (150 rider max) with a simple mat (or whatever) at the finish line to read the riders tag as they cross the line and clock the time.

A couple of things to consider. If you are think of using one for better accuracy than a stop watch CTT rules state that you can only use whole seconds except hillclimbs
'Any part of a second in timing shall be recorded for all purposes as the next whole second except in the case of hill-climbs where timing shall be to 1/ 10th of a second. '
Timers need to be approved by the CTT
' an Electronic Timing system as approved by National Committee.
NB: When using an Electronic Timing system, an approved timekeeper and watch are recommended as a backup.
Electronic timers and watches shall have obtained a certificate from a tester approved by the National Committee showing it has fulfilled the requirements of the relevant test'
You will need to consider where you place your finish mat so riders won't miss it and then need to think about other traffic going over it.0 -

Westerely CC use one at their Hillingdon summer evening time trials. Maybe worth getting in touch with the club and see if they might be willing to help?
