After a few months with a 2013 Kona Cindercone, decided to go for a Kona Kula Watt for sale locally.
Took it out today, put it through its paces. Very very fast..actually a little too quick for my ability at the moment! Climbs very quick too, nice and easy to throw around. Few pics from today.

Changed a coupe of things...New bars and stem...went for 710mm RaceFace bar and 60mm stem to replace the 610mm Flat bat and 90mm stem.

The old Easton ones were super light, but didn't suit me, and very 'racey' in their setup.

I love the detail on the frame, the carbon weave is very good looking...hopefully it'll stay that way.

Very nice, always fancied one of these. However kids took over, one day!

Because i picked up the Kona used, thought it a good idea to get it a once over by my bike mechanic.
Did this with my last Kona (Cindercone) with a full strip down and rebuild for piece of mind.

Turns out the bottom bracket (BB30) wasnt in great shape...bearings had siezed onto the cranks.

    Pics from the bike mech....

He had to make a makeshift puller to get one of he bearings off

Will make sure this kind of thing doesnt happen in my ownership.

A few months on and loving the Kula..very nimble on the trails..considering a move to a FS bike,
but this'll keep me going nicely for a while I reckon

New 180mm disc up front, seems to have helped with stopping power

The Kona is still proving to be an excellent trail bike after 6 months of regular service, super fast and light but tough enough, have had a few spills and haven't had any issues like sp many horror stories tell you about carbon frames.

Will be keeping it for some time yet, sure a full suspension machine is probably the way forward for the kind of trail riding I do, but as far as I can see, I'm as fast as some of the guys I see on their 4 grand full suspension rigs.

A few pics over the past couple of months
