  We have several hundreds if not thousands of able bodied young men hanging about in Calais, with a clear affinity for trains, trying to better their lot. Ching! Offer them jobs as tube train drivers. How difficult is it to learn how to start and stop a tube train? Everyone's a winner.

  Anyone who has been on the Docklands Light Railway knows the answer to this little problem. Although the computers that will drive the trains may be foreign
