Vuelta re-sits for?

Quintana, because despite all the efforts in the Alps, he goes home with a fistful of flies... the white jersey was a given and the second place smells more like defeat than achievement. His form over the first half was questionable. He was the better climber and should have won the Tour.
Contador, because had he not been there, nobody would have noticed... on his defence, he was the only one who bothered with the Giro.
Pinot, because despite that famous win, his credibility as a GC contender has lost points rather than gained
Sagan, because the green jersey doesn't put a smile on anyone's face in the absence of a real win
Cavendish, because it looks like autumn is on his way for him
Majka, because he failed to display last year's brilliance

PTP Runner Up 2015
He should and he will... however overall I did put him down to third or fourth... he finished fourth with a stage win, so not as bad a result as one might think
None of the Tour contenders, unless they dropped out early. They will all be knackered after such a tough race. Cav possibly as he was ill and hanging on, he may be able to recover in time. Contador? He was spent before the Tour so doing the Vuelta could only go badly for him. TeeJay if he has kicked his illness.
Brailsford seems to think it is good prep for the Tour.
I would tend to agree.
Would Froome then ride in support of someone else; who?
It does make sense, as it's a good time to 'practice' a Grand Tour, but leaves enough recovery time until next July. But the Vuelta starts on 22nd August - that doesn't leave much rest time.
4 of the last five Tour winners rode the vuelta the year before. Many of those who were notable disappointments at this Tour were absent from la Vuelta last year.
Seems to me Vuelta is now the preparation race for the Tour while the ToB is the best prep for the Worlds.
How many of the tour winners went on to rider the Vuelta?
Too busy to check, but Froome certainly doubled up in 2012 when he finished 2nd in the Tour.
Harsh in places but a good post.
Before 1992 it was properly Tinkoff awesome - Lemond rode all three in 89 and 90.
LeMond didn't ride all three, ever.
You're right. He only rode the Vuelta in 1983. Wikipedia's GTs entry for him is a bit confusing - it has the Worlds included.
Not quite sure where you lifted the stat from about 1989/90
Vuelta: April 24th to May 15th
Giro: May 25th to June 11th
Tour: July 1st to July 23rd
An astonishing effort.
How many back-to-back Tour winners have there been in the last 6 years?
In a post-aggressive-doping environment, having a good winter is much more of a big deal than it used to be, as you can't ingest sh!tloads of drugs to accelerate form gain*
* is a Rick Chasey theory he has concocted with limited/no evidence
Bertie 2009/2010*
Froome would be on a hat trick if he'd stayed off the deck last year**
*no explanation needed
**fu*k yeah!
*subject to my general inability to use wikipedia demonstrated above
