Kwiatkowski, landa are the two big rumours.

I'd imagine they'll bring in another classics hitter.

Kwiatkowski, Intxausti, Landa all heavily rumoured, and two young Brits that I can't remember the names of.

It's interesting that Tinkoff says Sky plan years ahead because of the commitment from Murdoch, whilst other teams are simply trying to survive and even those with big budgets can only go year to year as the sponsorship could end.
  • Oleg drama queenery

    Kwiatkoswski
    Golas

    Quite possibly Mikel Landa

    Izagirre brothers also linked

Oleg was more widely making the point that Sky don't spend more money than anyone else but sign potential, whereas he and the other big spenders are having to sign more immediate talent and have a much more short-term vision. It's a damning statement to suggest that a team with a long-term view is damaging the sport! However, he's probably right.

That said, Vaughters' horrific vision of an NFL/Cycling hybrid gives me little hope either.

It's an audacious double signing of Digger and Kimmage.
Then the evil plan is complete

They kept the Vayer signing secret for years. Don't see them blowing Digger so soon.

    No French?! Sacré bleu…

At least we've got Alex Peters in there - beautiful British name. What with the 2 variants of Mike (3 riders), 2 variants of Insausti/Intxausti (3 riders), 2 brothers and an exotic double-barrelled bloke from the far east (Hackney), correct rider identification and pronunciation are going to cause havoc in the commentary booths...

FdJ have had the same sponsor since 1997. Likewise Cofidis. Ag2R since 2000 (they were co-sponsor 97-99). Lampre have been main sponsor since 1992.

Granted those sponsors didn't put pen to paper on a ten year+ contract at the outset, but there is clearly a close relationship between the team and sponsor which will allow the team to plan for the future - even if only on a provisional basis.

Tinkoff would be better minded to not blow 12M Euro on a rider who hasn't yet won a monument. Not o mention that he appears to be bankrolling his team, so if he wants to plan ahead and can go ahead and do that.

I'm quite tired of his homophobia, bile and godshitery and would happily see the back of him and his hypocrisy and ethically dubious approach to 'professionalism'.

Was a big fan of Kwiatek from early so will be entirely disappointed to see him in Sky colours and methodology. Golas would make sense as they are good friends.

They are welcome to Landa. From a palmare point of view his Giro was hors normes. I wonder if he can repeat it.

Good job they got rid of Porte though. Not only does he have zero three week ability he will probably just pace Froome up a mountain whatever team he is in which is great business for Sky.

I'm a bit surprised they're linked with Alex Peters. A couple of people I know have said unfavourable things about his attitude and that seems to be a big factor for Sky, getting riders who are reliable and understand that it's a team sport.

FF are Saxo rumoured to be bringing in any reinforcements for Contador for next season? You'd imagine if he has a full tilt at the tour next year he'll need some renewed climbing support.

Porte is too inconsistent but he's been vital for Froome. Landa is talented but it's still a bit of an unknown. If as rumoured Sky bring in some of Movistars climbing support to go with what they've got they'll be well stocked to defend next year.

Tinkov has heard the rumours of who is going to Sky and is a very worried man. He is right in a sense as Sky are clearly Germany vs everyone else who is Portugal or England or god forbid, The Faroe Islands or Scotland.

It's an interesting, if flawed, point that he makes about the ability to plan a few years in advance. Sky are not alone among the big teams in being able to do that, but it certainly gives them a leg up over the teams a level below.

Regarding the signings they're reportedly making, it's really not going to change the landscape other than Sky perhaps being more dangerous in hilly classics. Intxausti and Gorka Izagirre are unlikely to impact much other than incrementally improving their Giro depth, Landa and Ion Izagirre were seen as the two big talents when Euskaltel closed, but combined they're unlikely to come close to replicating Porte's successes.

Nah. Kwia is a huge talent. Ion Izaguirre too will do well on climbs and as part of a TTT, plus will give depth to one week races. Gorka is coming along nicely, and on Giro performance Landa could be a superstar (blood tests permitting).

Not suggesting they're not riders that will improve that team overall, but they're also losing a huge talent and a lot of big wins too. If they can replace Porte's contributions + get a big one day win in the hills I think they'll have done very well.

So Oleg isn't happy about another team's good management.

Imagine what BMC would be like if they actually had a strategy instead of blowing a stack of cash on any aging rider with a rainbow stripe to their name. Great riders that they were, it was hardly a good long term plan.
