I don't know the town of Pamiers at all and certainly have no idea what there might be for children. There are some good climbs to the south of there, but you would be better in Foix or Tarascon. Ariege is a strange place. I think for a mix of holidays for cycling and for kids Argeles-Gazost (yes, i'm biased) is hard to beat. Also Saint-Lary-Soulan or Bagneres-du-Luchon are worth a look.

    Hi
Pamiers...very nice...but depends on how long you're there for....messing about on the Ariege etc. In terms of cycling the bigger stuff is slightly further south then west....out of Foix or Tarascon....usual hunting ground for Ariegeois sportive.....Plateau Baille....tour finish this year...great ride up from Les Cabannes....or from Ax you can go up to Bonascaire or trois domaines.
Plenty to do out and about in car....but can get a bit tedious if young kids.
