Tektro auriga comp hydraulic brake

Got the wife's Rockrider 520 out yesterday for a family trip out to Llandegla. Just giving it a once over I discovered that I could manually rotate the rear whilst pulling the (rear!) brake lever fully. Didn't feel spongy (particularly), and it took some effort to rotate the wheel, but it definitely wasn't holding as firmly as I'd like.
LBS is of course one option (as is Decathlon if needs be).
I am well aware that the standard advice for hydraulics is "Don't touch them" and "Don't bleed them, they don't need it" etc etc.
Is there any fine tuning that I should be doing to perhaps get the pads closer to the disc, or are they self-adjusting so that shouldn't be an issue? Of course, I can't rule out pad or disc contamination, so I'll IPA the rotors tonight, but does the symptom I have sound like a candidate for potential bleeding requirements?
Cheers!

Brakes only need bleeding if they are spongy. Clean the rotors and check/replace the pads.I don't do smileys.

As I thought, thanks. Definitely not spongy, just not grippy.2015 Canyon Nerve AL 6.0 (son #1's)
