Just finished wrapping the bar tape on this beast:

Genesis Equilibrium 853 56cm
Reynolds Strike CCs
Dura Ace 7900 with 7800-C chainset and Shimano BR451 57mm drop callipers
Thomson finishing kit
Fizik Antares saddle
Look Keo Sprint pedals

The wheels are not usually on there, they're for another bike I'm currently building up, but I thought I'd try them out for a bit of fun. I reckon it looks pretty sweet, doubt there's many other Equilibriums running 62mm rims!

(sorry about the chives...)

Jeepers! You're not going to be picking up the wrong bike at the cafe stop with bars taped like that!

And what's wrong with the chives? Looking healthier than mine...

uhhhh the bar tape is.. ummm.. different?!?1

and its odd to see deep carbon rims and a steel fork.. looks good though!

Have you thought about one of these as an alternative to the red tape on the seatpost? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/fizik-seatpost-ring/rp-prod113649

Lol! I wanted to inject a bit of colour into the build and the bars/saddle were the only place left to do it. Plus, I wanted to pick up on the yellow/ green highlights on the frame and give it a bit of a Rasta theme. The tones are more muted when you see it in the flesh tho.

That fizik band thing does looks like quite a good idea, it would match the saddle too, tempting...

I'll put the usual wheels (fulcrum racing Zeros) back on towards the end of the week and upload some more photos.

    Thanks for your comments

If i was colour blind I'd love this. None of it matches however. Do yourself a favour, next time you're in Italy pick up a bike mag and check out how the style pros do it :-)

LOVE the crazy carbon DA crank. That is a piece of history.

    Man, that's a bit harsh.

I happen to think the colors look pretty cool.
  • It honestly looks like the pinky ponk on acid.

Even the saddle height marker was matched.

That is absolutely brilliant, might have to replicate it eventually. Gorgeous.
Leave the deep rims on it ;)

I mean I really like it. I don't know if that means I don't have any taste but I like it just the way it is. Deep rims, bar tape, saddle and all! Have fun.
