I know it was a rough decision, mate, but pretending Stage 10 didn't happen isn't going to improve matters in the long run.

Today's installment sees Richie Porte on his bike on top of the neutral service car, winning the stage.

I like this stage profile. Should make some great viewing for roadside fans with three loops of that circuit.

It is actually from the 1968 World Championships.

Give Ritchie another 2 minutes just to be sure.

Let's keep the Richie discussion in one thread, eh... It's cringing enough as it is.

"I will survive" vows an exuberant Richie Porte, arriving at the sign-on in some style.

It's relevant to this thread, and indeed any Giro thread about this edition. I was just having a joke anyway.

An Astana win at the home of Ferrari would probably suit the local officials.

Betancur, Pellizotti, Montaguti, Chavanel are among 11 riders trying to go clear over the first climb.

A lot of people saying this is a nailed on breakaway stage. Given how the rest of the race has panned out I really wouldn't be surprised to see the GC guys finishing in the top 5.

Kruijswijk, Zakarin, Montaguti, Hesjedal, Rutkiewicz, Betancur, Rubén Fernandez, Pellizotti, Intxausti, and Rosa

Nice break. Lets hope they make it stick.

Teams don't let Boonen into breaks.

Looks like Betancur slipped out on that wet descent. Not serious though.

    Paolini also came off.

BMC leading the chase now, likely for Gilbert.

Points on the climb: Betancur, Intxausti, Kruijswijk

Peloton getting fragmented on these wet slick roads.

Sky are about 30m back from Astana, Tinkoff, BMC.

TV production of this stage is like watching CCTV for pickpockets.

It's surprising that the 'no mechanical help from a rival' rule isn't well known in the peloton. Mick Rogers said just now that he only knew because of a story from 20 years ago. If it was so frowned upon you'd think it would be second nature, especially for GC contenders.

Rigo distanced on a descent. Fortunately Boonen's there.

No surprise Uran was dropped. Bouet mullered his mullet with a mallet. Apparently.

In case anyone cares the break has 2m16s with 59km to go. Otherwise, a lot of chat about yesterday.

Teams don't let Boonen into breaks.

He's going to solo from 40km with the peloton only able to watch.

I may be dreaming a little.

He's not great in week 2 and he's never won in week 3 (though he hasn't been in many 3rd weeks).
