Hi,

Just wondering if there are any fellow cyclists who live in South-East London (Brockley/Lewisham/Hither Green area etc) that might fancy meeting up for a ride one weekend?

I have just moved to the area and am training for the Ride London event so anyone with some local knowledge of decent routes etc would be great. Equally happy to go for short rides if thats what you want - just be nice to have some company!

I'm pretty slow but pretty sociable, anyone interested (or can recommend a cycle club) then let me know.

Cheers
Brian

Just spotted Avanti are having an "open day" next Sunday so maybe a great time for you to pop along:

Free cakes which surely is an offer no cyclist could turn down.....

Good spot -thanks! I'm actually going to be venturing out on a club ride on Sunday with http://pengecycleclub.org.uk/. I'll need to tag a few miles onto the end in order to make a decent training ride for Ride London though.

I did contact Bigfoot initially but no reply... :( I can only assume they don't want a rider of below average ability joining them.. :)

Are you sure? Did you see the Avanti free cakes? You should rethink your priorities....

None of the clubs are anything but welcoming. Probably just normal busy humans who didn't answer your emails.

Catford and Dulwich Paragon are all in range as well. Not to mention Cadence Performance.

The only reason I am not going to Avanti is purely down my availability - can't make Saturday but can make Sunday... That and my lycra is getting tighter without the aid of free cakes as it is..

You're quite right Tiesetrotter, swapped emails with a chap at BigfootCC last night so am aiming to get out with them in a few weeks once I am back from hols. In a bid a) to be able to complete the Ride London and b) meet some local fellow cyclists I may well, over the summer months, do Saturday with Bigfoot and Sunday with Penge....

Blackheath Velo go out on Sundays. They have a facebook group and a twitter account.

    Avanti ride Sundays not Saturdays.
