Hi there

I've been told I need a Shimano 105 (10 speed) chain. Theres a few variations out there - are they all pretty much the same i.e. will they all fit my chainset or do I need to get the specific one?

I believe the one I have on my bike (which needs replaced) is now discontinued by all retailers.

Thanks

KMC X10L. Excellent chains that offer good vfm and they even come with a link to make the connection a doddle and can be reused after maintenance, etc.
Don't forget that the chain will need to be cut to size, the old one should be a good guide. Park Chain Brute, in answer to your next question. ..and a good steel ruler to measure for wear.

Thanks but not available on Wiggle or Chainreaction (discontinued too)

Ah yes, I guess the stocks are being run down due to an x2 version out soon? I did spot one on Amazon, might be worth googling, etc. Not sure what else to recommend as I have tried Shimano chains and was not impressed so have stuck with KMC since. Might be worth posting in the Road Buying Advice section because that's where this query should be.

    SRAM PC 1031 or 1051?
    Ultegra 6700 or 105 5700, or Tiagra 4600 versions?
    Or KMC variants...

I have Ultegra groupset and run 105 cassette, and typically a 105 chain, though just fitted a PC1031. The SRAM is much easier install with the quick link.
    All are available on CRC.....

    +1 for KMC.

Plenty of other outlets and your not looking hard enough.

    Any X10 chain will work

    £12.99

    I'd go for the x10 93

There was a test a couple of years ago on most of the chains available and the 105 and ultegra came out as some of the best available, cant be bothered to google it but very interesting reading so I always buy Ultegra and a KMC link for removal.
