Basically i currently own a OEM carbon frame (on it's way out) with full Utegra and some planet x ct45's on, We've just been told we can use the cycle scheme through work and i was wondering if it's going to be worth picking up a bike sub £1,000 which i can switch the fame on.

So are there any bikes knocking around for under 1k that have a decent enough frame for me to use with the Ultegra and then use the rest for a winter bike.

I've been looking at the Dolan l'etape, Trek madone 2.1 and the Giant Defy 0, Does anyone have any experience with any of these? Any advice is more that welcome.

Cheers.

As I understand it you can buy components on the C2W scheme now, so you could use it to buy a frame?
  • I was thinking whole bike so i can stick the stock groupset on my current frame and have a winter hack.

I had a Trek Madone 2.1, didn't like it, very twitchy and a harsh ride, and not very stiff either. Switched to a Scott CR1 frame and the difference was immense.
