Anyone know how the Double Defence tyres ride?
Recently switched over to a Racing Ralph on the rear (from the NN I use in winter) and am picking up punctures every 50 miles or so. Always amongst the tread so snakeskin wouldn't help and now have a couple of nice 2-3mm slices in it so am looking at putting a DD Ralph on.
Wondered whether they grip as well or are as comfortable. Happy to take the weight penalty if it means I get the tyre levers out less often

Very little difference IMO.
Used Racing Ralph's for a while. New trails led to lots of punctures so switched to DDs.
Slightly heavier, but not so much to put me off.
Better to spend time riding than waste time fixing punctures.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

Thanks.
So they've stopped the punctures altogether or just reduced them?0 -
DD NNs tubeless for me - very good indeed. I've had one slashed by a Flint but even that is still OK and didn't flat... In fact the only tube I've used in a couple of years was when I let the sealant run dry. As to how they ride, they have stiffer sidewalls so they feel more stable at lower pressures.Vitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)

Thanks both good to know. I think I'll give them one last chance as they've only got a summer's worth of riding in them and then get a set of DDs. Wiggle have them at £35 at the moment as well0

I did as I normally buy my tyres from there but for once when you add on the fiver for delivery they are a couple of quid dearer than wiggle0

Noticeably reduced - from a couple a month to once in 4 months.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

Good enough for me. Cheers0
