Hi guys,

I'm going to France in a couple of weeks and wondered if there would be any races for me to have a go at.
Anybody know what website will have French races on? Like a British cycling website but for France?
Cheers

The main Federation that runs races and so on is the FFC:

But I think you need an FFC licence to take part in races.

There are other general sporting federations that run races as well : FSGT, UFOLEP

Which federation is most active in the area you're going to depends on how active the local committees are. You might be able to find this out by hooking up with local clubs, most of which have websites.

Alternatively, you could do a French cyclosportive. These are different from British sportives in that they have a mass start, and a final ranking is given, with podium ceremony and prizes for the winners.

I think you need to be a member of a French club to race there. Unlike Belgium where you can use your BC licence. Why not call British Cycling and ask them, they're very helpful I'm told.

you can race under your british club, i did it a few weeks ago, you just need a permission letter from British Cycling to show you are insured to race over there, try

for races and depending on your French it may be worth contacting the organiser before you go just to help signing on a bit easier, it is not as smoothly run as in Belgium but i have never been refused entry
  • Any idea what the categories mean for French races? 1.30 for example?
