I got the need for speed. I don't like someone passing me on a flat road. I also don't want some MTBers passing by me on a hill climb.

Help me choose and tell me the reason for picking that set. Thanks!

    A) looks like a tourer or some kind of hybrid so avoid that one

    If you need to ask, then you probably don't need an 11t sprocket, so I too would go for D) and a lot of training.

    Not sure if this is a serious post or not - but if it is, then unless you have the required fitness, you are still going to get passed by MTBers on hills, or by kids on BMXs, regardless of what gear combos you have.

    A, B and C with 8 or 9 speed 11-32 cassettes will mean biggish jumps between sprockets and could lead to uncomfortable cadence changes as you move through the gears

    As above D would be my choice

    :shock: In fact, wait a minute, that's what I have currently and have had for the past 2 years on all my road bikes. On the 12-30 Tiagra cassette the big jumps only come on the 3 lowest sprockets (24,27 and 30). All the others are only one or two teeth different so changes are smooth when you are on the flat or rolling terrain

    Actually I'd vote for what I've ended up with on my 2 bikes

    E) 46/36 with a 10 speed 12-27 cassette, or

    F) 50/39/30 with a 10 speed 12-25 cassette

    D, 10 speed compact but with a 12-27 cassette. If you spin out on the flat on 50/12 then give Sir Dave a bell, if you need more than 34/27 to get up a hill then just add a bell :)
