Going tubeless with Pacenti SL23's

Got a wheelset in the pipeline using Pacenti SL23 rims and am "tubeless curious". Anyone ride them tubeless? And what does "tubeless-friendly" actually mean? Does it mean tubeless is tolerated, or that it is the intended way to use them?

Likely to be with 23mm tyres since my forks have very little clearance for anything wider, usually.

TIA for any info.

  • You should ride them tubeless, if nothing else because I think you will struggle to fit an inner tube at the side of the road on those rims.
It means you fit two layers of tubeless tape, a pair of valves, a pair of tubeless tyres, 30 ml of sealant per tyre... inflate and you're tubeless!

If you don't start messing about with crap stuff to save some pennies, it should be pretty straightforward

With DA hubs and the price of these chuffing rims I think it's a bit late to start saving pennies

You reckon two layers of tape per rim then? Is that generally recommended or just a belt-and-braces approach?
