Off on a training camp in Denia, wondering what gearing I may need. Same as in the UK (I live in Hampshire/Berkshire)?

I've been out there for the past 3 years in January, and unless you go looking for really steep stuff then you probably won't encounter much above 10-12%, with most hills being around 7% average. There is steeper stuff, but you it tends to be the smaller back roads so you have to go looking for it really. I got by absolutely fine on a 34-27 lowest gear (I'm really not a climber's build :P ) and one of the guys I went with 2 years coped on 39-23.... He is a maniac though

A compact with a 27 or 28 is fine for Coll de Rates above Jalon. That's about the toughest climb in the area.
