Hi

I've had a hewitt cheviot SE with veloce 10 sp shifters and the rest of the drive train shimano deore XT

Initially all was good but then it got more and more difficult to tune properly.

I got a JTEC shiftmate but that didn't really help.

I wanted to keep the levers as it helps with fitting a bar bag so would like to sort out the rear deraileur and cassette.

can I just get an ambrioso cassette and veloce 10 speed rear deraileur?

the front has a triple so I guess I would need a "long cage" rear d if these are available from campag

always been a shimano guy before so apologies for my ignorance

the rear hub is shimano and currently running 9 speed

thanks for reading

cheers

Nick

Keep the 10s Veloce levers and the Shimano rear hub. Use a Campag 9/10s rear mech. Use a Shimano 9s cassette
and it'll shift perfectly. That's the combo I have on my 3 bikes (Campag 10s levers, Campag 9 or 10s rear mech, Shimano 9s cassette).
  • Yep... 10 speed shifters, ambrosio cassette and Campag rear mech

If you want a Veloce medium cage (long does not exist) RD, I've got one that has done probably 200 miles, bought it as a temporary replacement, while I fixed a broken one...
Happy to see it go, as I've got far too many spares around the house.

Alternatively you can keep the 9 speed shimano set up and shift it with an 11 speed campagnolo ergo lever (Athena) it works perfectly I use it

    thanks for the replies

I would prefer the 10 speed solution so I don't end with "missing gears"

I will PM you regarding the RD

    many thanks

The one that matches your cassette. Shimano 10 should work fine
