Hi - have just got myself a Garmin 810 and is slowly getting to grips with all the functions. have downloaded a free open street map and also tried to download a few routes. All good so fare.

Is there a way of adding your home address so that when you are out on a ride and need to get home from an unknown place you can easily ask it to navigate home. A bit like on my car-sat where there is a navigate home button?

Any suggestions

  • Word of caution. Adding home location is a Godsend to thieves.
  • Just name it "Police Station" in the memory card then.

If you need the GPS to navigate you to even within a mile of your house let alone the front door then maybe you shouldn't be allowed out on your own!
    Faster than a tent.......
  • If I have need to navigate back home, I just select navigate to a city and type in the city I live in. It takes less than a 1min to do this. Some times the garmin will find you an interesting way back home you you would never have thought of.

When you are at home turn on the unit and get a GPS lock. You can now save your location and name it home. You can save whatever location you like.
