  • Any final pics and weight? Interested as I have a prophet also and love it. Looking to upgrade it and maybe get a paint job on it also. Other route might be to covert it to 650b as it seems to convert nicely to it?

I know the pics are terrible, will take proper ones when I have figured out why my phone is suddenly useless as a camera. Bike looks a lot better in the flesh.

Here she is in her element. Loving the bike since the re-build, was going to sell but decided to keep it.

I am guessing you haven't bottomed out the shock yet? Longer stroke is almost certainly going to make the rear tire rub the seat tube if using anything other than XC tyres, iirc this is common on prophets with standard shocks using the fr position. Also be careful about running a 160mm fork, a friend snapped his headtube clean off riding the same. I think the mx version with the bolt thru rear axle was updated for this. Nice bike though, always liked them.

Checked for this when i built the bike, I deflated the shock in the slacker Fr position and fully compressed the shock, there is around just under a centimetre of clearance with the 2.3inch tyres fitted as seen in the pic. As for the longer forks The original Cannondale headset had a 25mm lower stack height so with the 140mm Pikes I had fitted the overall difference is less than 10mm with the Fox 34 160mm fitted. You mate must have been unlucky to rip his headtube off as it is huge and has lots of weld.

  • Nice looking ride. I've got meself an old prophet frame to build up while i get over a long list of injuries and am looking to update the old Radium shock - how do you find the RP23 compared to the Roco? What compression / rebound tune does the RP23 have?
