Are we taking bets for relegation to Liga Adelante ?

First fixture against Deportivo de La Coruna away.

5 out of the bottom 6 on 9 points including RS.

I am willing to bet that he will do fine.

Manchester United was a step too big with fans demanding a style of play opposite to his management and a squad that was past it's sell by date.

That said, 11 managers since 2006?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Hard to say what will happen. We all loved it when things went pear shaped at Manure when he was in charge, but that was after 10 years or so of doing a steady, decent job at Everton. And he did better in the same period last season than Van Gaal has managed to date this season, without having spent £150m or so.

He needs to get it right though as another mess up and he'll turn up somewhere in the Rymans next.

Mid table club with mid table aspirations - the mid table man will be fine, be heralded as a reformed character and welcomed back to the British fold.

I'll put a fiver on him being Celtic or Rangers manager within 5 years.

What gets me is Martinez seems to be a better manager. When did Moyes ever win the FA Cup? I honestly wished Martinez had come to United during Moyes ill fated reign. Everton doing better than us really rubbed it in.

Unless some billionaires buy up Man United they can't rival Chelsea or City. No one can or will. Liverpool came close but they are like a special case, I even say that as a Manc. I mean they can just somehow do it and I guess United are that way a bit, with team spirit. No one else has a chance, not even Arsenal!

You're joking right? I can accept cries of an unfair advantage from Burnley, West Brom or even Everton fans for example, but Manchester United! Yes poor United only being able to spend over a £140 million this summer alone! I think the problems at United have absolutely zilch to do with lack of money and more to do with allowing a squad to stagnate over a period. Poor poor United  , that's a cracker! You do have to spend it wisely though, Luke Shaw cost more than the whole Chelsea defence!
  • When Moyes came to United he inherited a very poor team, yes everyone will say but they won the premier league, but to me that strictly isn't true, other teams threw it away, United have not been good for years, it's just that other teams were a little bit worse so United won things, other teams have now got better whereas the job to sort United is huge and will take years, I'm a United fan and I have enjoyed our success but I also understand it doesn't last forever but I will always support them.
The job after fergie was impossible and I did think Moyes was the man to sort it, but it seems the players weren't keen on him, like Rio said in his book and if the players won't play for you there is not a lot you can do, happened at other clubs as well, looks like it's happening at City at the moment too.
He seems to be a good likeable man but in football it's everything straight away or you are out, so he was on a hiding to nothing.
I for one hope he does well in Spain and establishes himself as a good manager again.

Fantastic find - chapeau. I had no idea that they existed. Right, get my CV in - I'm definitely, as Michael & rid gelt once said, their man.

That's a fantastic piece of comedy writing. The self claimed biggest club in the world needs financial assistance.

    Brilliant.

Perhaps Socialist dock worker non Gorbels living Ferguson could donate some of his wine cellar sale proceeds or horse racing funds to the cause?

Not that sort of fun...but now the Liverpool fans don't go on that thread anymore we only have a gobby City fan and a couple of deluded Gooners to take the mick out of

It used to be if United had not scored before 20 minutes was up you got worried. That's going back 15 years though. Now I just hope they get a draw or whatever - often against mediocre teams. If I want to see some good football now I just watch Chelsea and City. Its all down to Van Gaal, but what's good about him is he won't shy away from attacking football and will chew up and spit out players if they don't perform.

By that statement Van Gaal should be out and in hindsight, Moyes was the man for the job.

I wouldn't have minded if Wenger was made United manager, but Arsenal fans didn't like me saying that lol. It wouldn't have worked out for the same reasons it didn't work out with Moyes.

It didn't work out with Fergie for a few years in the beginning, but no one expected anything back then. It takes years before a club can say hey, we can't let this guy go. Thats why suggesting Wenger at United horrifies Arsenal fans, I mean he is a world class manager and I think (might be going out on a limb here) Arsenal have played the best football in the Premiership going back to when it started, but only when they are playing at their best.

When they had Anelka up front, thats when they were playing pure football as you wanted to see it played. It got scary because I thought they might stay like that, become untouchable almost like the Barca of England, but its probably impossible. Wenger also had them undefeated for an entire season that time, not easy! In some respects then Wenger has done things even Fergie couldn't.

My Lord, I might be a deluded and occasionally gobby Gooners fan. But even I haven't smoked enough wacky baccy to believe we were akin to Barcelona when playing ANELKA up front.

Any half decent forward ( besides TGSTEL Bendtner) gets pushed out onto the right wing and made to try and come inside.

As for United being an under- financed club that requires Billionaire benefactors to compete with Man City and Chelsea. that's the best laugh I ve had all year, Haven't you just signed a £750 million shirt deal with Nike on the proviso you only bring out 12 different home, away and training shirts this season? Hope one's Grey!!!

As for Moyes I am sure he will perform adequately at Real Sociedad, but I bet the ginger fecker burns like a lobster in pre-season training.

    Only pulling your leg TW.

As for Man U needing more finance  And why do they need to bring out all those new shirts when they have millions available, washed and ironed, for £1 a pop:

Appears that Van Gaal has said that it will take three years to turn the team around, imagine what would have happened if Moyes had said that after two months.
