I find that navigation round Bike Radar is slowed because of the ads appearing esp the videos. I am using Chrome because I find it is even slower than explorer. I guess it happens on many sites. Is there any setting I can use to supress them?

The ads are why the site is free.

They are but the expanding ones at the top are annoying when using something such as an iPad, you go to click on something then the screen moves.

This ^^^^^^^ Using Chrome on one, Firefox on another and Windows in the office but I believe disclosing the secret is frowned upon.

Ghostery and Ad-Block Plus have been keeping me ad and pop-up free for years.

They work with both Chrome and Firefox.

No-Script is worth a look too if you want to take it even further.

Also, look at routing your traffic through OpenDNS servers.

Thanks citizen - I've got Ad Block plus now and it works perfectly. Our IS moaned at me and so I said sorry. Don't have to mean it of course.

    No probs ;)

Ads help pay for the site so I accept that they need to be there, but where they're intrusive, ruin the user experience and collect data about you, then I have no problem blocking them.

The ads don't collect data about you, Google does.

I think you'll find they do, but yeah so does Google.

Don't get the adds when overseas either, although that may be an extreme way to avoid them unless you name is skibum!
