So: those little 'pro style' name stickers that you can get for your bike.

Classy or w*nky????

It's just a hill. Get over it.

If you're a pro - the first one; if not, the second.

If you are in a group with similar bikes, the first one.

    If not, the second one.

Actually, unless you are a pro, the second one. If a group buy similar bikes then they are sheep and w*nky.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I saw one recently complete with title, 'Dr'. If the bike was a present from proud parents, or he's a team medic, etc., then fair enough. Otherwise, I'm inclined to go for option 2.

Even worse are the ones with a national flag after their name. Height of wa*kiness.

Sometimes it just happens by coincidence.

  • I have a sticker with 'Sleeper' on my seat post, in case somebody I'm riding next to needs to know my name (I run cycling training camps), but I think I'd be a complete **** if I had 'S Cell' and a Union Flag on my top tube.

OK, come on, let's get off the fence on this one - are we positive or negative about these things?

Where do these things actually come from? - is there a superb UK graphics and decal maker you'd like to tell us about?
  • I like 'em.

No embarrassing forgetting people's names on the club run.

I don't mind if you don't have them on your bike. Each to their own.
  • my bianchi has Italian flags in most places
Im not Italian should I get some of my national flag decals

Could be the basis for a (long) thread.

It's reminiscent of the way fighter pilots have their names inscribed on the fuselage up by the cockpit.

However, there's an obvious difference between a fighter pilot, who can get away with such self-indulgence because he is, in fact, an actual fighter pilot, and a cyclist, who er, well, isn't.

That said, my bike says 'Giant' on the side. How on earth did they know?

  • Cyclists put names on their bikes because thats what the pros do. Not sure why they do it, but I can see the logic as it would help you to pick out your bike from all the others in the team.

If amateurs want to do it I cannot see the harm.

Seems a lot less vain than wearing the same outfit the pro team wear. At least they have the excuse of having no choice.

I have been sticking my name on bikes for many years, in the hope that others will and then I will not have quite so many of those '' oh, did I call you that , how stupid of me not to know your name , which is of course , errrrrrr'' moments.

There was an extremely good looking bike in the Raleigh factory sale recently bearing a union jack and the name Briggs. I would not mind riding that one .

I have my name on my bike.

This is because it's my bike, I bought it and I like my name on it. I don't care what you do to yours or what you think i should do.

    Simple as that. :D

The older I get, the better I was.

Yeah, neither does anyone else here. But don't tell anyone - it'll spoil the chance of a good thread.

Its mandatory in our club, to all but me who rides a lowly Planet X.

The rest are Dentists, Lawyers and accountants, and its the only way they can work out which Pinarello Dogma in team sky colours is theirs.
