Chain wear

Rightio guys, I replaced my 8 speed chain about 3 months, prob done about 200miles on it. I recently replaced the chainset and in the last 2 rides had a few gear changing issues. So I decided to check a few things, the cassette does have some burring on the back of the teeth, and the chain wear checker slots in at 0.75!

Can my chain be that worn already? Admittedly it was a cheaper KMC chain.

    If your cassette was worn it would make the chain wear faster.

    Nothing wrong with KMC chains.

    Ah really? Never knew that.

    I bought the KMC on recommendation, just wasn't sure if their lower end products were more liable to wear more quickly. Do you reckon try new chain and cassette?

    Often the cheaper stuff is more hard wearing as it's got more metal. Light is expensive.

    My current cassette and chain (KMC) is almost two years old - I always replace both at the same time, only degrease the chain once when the factory lube is finished (lasts a good few months) then use Squirt and never bother again. Hose down and reapply when it gets cruddy.

    Works for me.
