sorry if this is the wrong place to ask as I don't often visit the communit pages even though I commute every day.

I currently have a chilli cam for my commute and think I want something better quality.

I see Argos are selling these

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 179488.htm

For only £99. Are they any good for general commuting, obviously important to be able to see reg plate details and stuff if/when I get knocked off

Your advice and info welcome to help me decide

  • They're excellent. 83 quid on the British cycling store. But, not considerably better than an sj4000 from Amazon or eBay.

probably sold out as they dont have the Go Pro 4s in stock either. but dont forget if you are a BC member, youll get 10% at Halfords on it as well.

I keep hoping one of the gadget websites will do get round to doing a review on it vs the other makes to see how good it is, £99 is very tempting price for a bike cam.

I've the GoPro 3 Black Ed to replace my early bog standard one. The Black is impressive but it also irritates me. They seem to have gone for wider and wider angles which isn't always helpful - my race car footage, for instance, is almost the entire inside of the car.

I also think that the file sizes the greater definitions create (esp 4k) are too large for a lot of processors to edit efficiently. I've always disliked the GoPro form factor too (not that it's any real difference between the models - slightly slimmer on the newer ones). GoPro sound is crap too - really tinny. If I run two cameras, I have an old Sony I use and I always use the audio track from that

I got one from Wiggle last week as the citizens of north Mcr seem to be intent on shortening my lifespan. I got it mainly because I was left hooked by a massive builders lorry and if I'd had to be peeled off the road it would have looked like I'd gone up the inside, when I hadn't. Haven't tried it out yet though as we've got our AGM in a few weeks so I'm doing work in the evenings and taking the laptop and a wad of paper home every night.

I got the new one - using the wiggle discount and a works one - down to £80.

Put it on for ydays ride and it was good quality - I did think the vibration would be too much but its worked quite well. 16Gb card didnt last for a 3.5 hour ride - so i might have to lower the quality - but the battery lasted anyway.

Last time I hired one - it cost me £80 for a week anyway !
