Nothing too scientific - i.e. not UCI /PCI points - just who impressed you with their riding - maybe due to age - determination - consistency etc

OPQS and (hate to say it) Valverde, simply for being where it mattered most often.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Dan Martin.......if he'd been able to avoid some crashes!

Team is definitely OPQS, I can't remember how many victories I said they'd had in the other thread but it was about 60. A deserving world champion and 3? former multiple WC's? Binche-Chimay-Binche was a great end to the season, a tactical masterclass.

For the best rider I would have to go with Valverde unfortunately, definitely the best on paper just not a pretty way to win, you can't ignore his tactical nounce though.

I suppose the other question is who was the rider who showed the most panache?

Future grand tour winner? Certainly seems to be able to mix it with the big boys. I've enjoyed his riding this season.

Him and Nibs need to get out of that ropey team though and go to one with a better reputation, I think that team will implode pretty soon.

Tom Dumoulin has consistently impressed me this year, esp at the Eneco tour.
    OPQS for the team prize.

    OGE & Pinot.
  • OPQS for getting the numbers in the right moves so often in the classics season.

Rider Tony Martin, for some legendary stage wins, when he gets off the bus in a skin suit you know its game time.

OPQS, who are my favourite team anyway.

Rider of the year is more difficult. Big Tone despite losing the WC, Valverde, Mick Rogers for three massive GT stage wins.

First choice is OPQS and Contador, but I like to be different, so will go for Saunier Duval and Oscar Freire

OPQS for me, I think 18 of their riders have won races this year, which is a phenomenal amount.

I'm going for someone different for rider of the year, Alexander Kristoff. His Milan-San Remo win was a bit of a surprise, but he's backed that up since with some excellent wins at the highest level.
  • Valverde head and shoulders above everybody else, I'm afraid.
    Best set of classics results.
Best overall result in the GTs.
Not forgetting how good he was on the dirt and cobbles in March.

    Best team OPQS.

    Opqs For team.
    Valverde for being Mr consistent
Nibali for achieving his target with the most flair
Kristoff for his multitude of wins and for not just being a sprinter.

Right. I'm confused. Why all the love for OPQS? The only World Tour event they won was Paris-Roubaix, which isn't a lot for one of the big spenders.

And your choice, Movistar, is one long list of prominent victories?

They were one position off being the first team to be on the podium of all three GTs since their ancestors Banesto. Three WT wins, number one team on WT rankings, number one rider on WT rankings. And they're only a mid budget team.

There are right or wrong choices of course, but I was puzzled why OPQS seemed to be a near universal choice.

Curious to see what ranking people put nibs.

Does Froome and Contador not finishing the take the shine off what was a pretty dominant Tour win?

Really? Is this not a topic asking for personal choices? If it's a quiz I'll retract my answers.

For me, it was the word "team".
