commuter flat bar road/hybrid bike all weather under £700

hi all buying first half decent commuter bike

chose 700 on cycle scheme now wishing i went for 1k.... oh welll. its gettin to end of year when do 2014's go on sale?

i would like something decent speccd for the price... carbon fork. has to be black/dark grey (dont like white/bright/flashy bikes)

needs to be all weather - take mudgurads lights etc

any ideas? commute only 5 miles.

im after a roady hybrid not mountain hybrid. flat bars. im clearly a newb, any good methodology for choosing?

    I've just moved close to the office so celebrated by buying an old steel Kona (under £100) and some full mudguards (about £12). Already had skinny slicks as the seller used it for the same thing.

    Not sure why I did though as it's bike no 13, and I could have used any of the others, but N+1 etc.
    I don't do smileys.

    But CD, you are in the position where N=1 can no longer tend to D-1, thus your limit on N=1 tends to infinity!

    4 bikes of my own, 4 others in the family, a mates I'm looking after and 3 frames and assorted spares, so in total not far behind you!

    Can you pay the small bit extra and go for the Boardman? That's a good bike and looks perfect for what you want. Price for the 2014 may come down now as 2015 bikes come out. (Not sure if Boardman update each year though ...)
