Knee pain for Cummings apparently but I suspect all are suffering from a lack of motivation.0 -
Smog means the stage ends 36.5km short of the original finish line. It's also pretty cold.0
-
Finish on the summit of the climb - Gilbert (BMC) takes the win ahead of Van Resburg (Giant) and Costa (Lampre). Some splits in the bunch.0
-
About a dozen fans to see the finish including 2 wearing 'Despicable Me' suits. Gilbert jumps straight in the team people carrier after the race.0
-
I can understand a lack of motivation, there is no point pushing yourself and sucking in all that smog.
This race really isn't a great advert for China, the fact the air quality is so poor in places you can't ride a bike and the most exciting thing in your local town is a substation, or if you're really lucky there's a petrol station that sells sweets at the weekend (That's not even a joke). What a depressing place to live.
TFR vying for the trophy of worst cold weather gear but not quite snatching it from Astana who thankfully aren't racing as I'm not sure I could take it if they were both there.
On a plus note we have a bit of vegetation today.0 -
Gilbert win! Wooo.
What a race, I cant think of one substantial set of people who are sad this race is going away.
Ps. Paris Tours tomorrow. Degenkolb is in town and has won already this week.
Giro d'Emilia today - great race.Contador is the Greatest0 -

And the crowds wait at the finish line but the finish line is not the finish line RT @DaniBici:“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

They still had to ride the last km or so of the original finish in procession, through the smog, and Gilbert even redid his victory! Somewhat better crowds there: http://www.cyclingfans.com/node/15829 (from 2:09:00 on; actual shortened race finish at ca 45:00)0

That this is an issue shows what a waste of time this race is.0 -
Bit of a breakaway today, currently at 1:34 but Cheng and the boys have been putting pressure on at the front of the peloton, so much so there have been a few splits Dan Craven and his beard are among the victims.
Some much more interesting terrain today, it no longer looks like a post apocalyptic wasteland, which is nice. The twisty parcours seems to be giving us some better racing and there doesn't seem to be any smog warning today.0 -
Tyler Farrar takes his first win of the season ahead of Mezgec and Nikolas Maes of OPQS, quite a messy run in, I was surprised no one went down in the final corner. Giant were uncharacteristically all over the place so it strikes me they hadn't had much of a recce of the course prior to this.0
-
It was actually a very well timed sprint from Farrar who made up 13 places in the final sprint. Gilbert still holds the red jersey by 5 seconds.0
-
Pleased for Farrar. Going out with a bang.Contador is the Greatest0

Quite a good stage today, Garmin are having a good end to the season. Great bit of attacking by Ryder, shame he couldn't make it stick but he whittled down the peloton ready for Martin to attack.
The intermediate sprints tomorrow could be interesting with only 3 seconds separating Gilbert and Martin.0 -
I take it there is no UK TV coverage of this ?[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

The last half dozen kms were good viewing, with Ryder Hesjedal looking lke he might get away, but then running out of gas and being caught, it was Dan Martin who got the stage with a 400 metre uphill sprint on a snaking road after patiently holding a good position near the front of the chasing peloton. Nice scenery too, so worth catching the highlights if you can.0
