I'm going to Atlanta for a conference next week - staying in the Hyatt Regency.

I've got Tuesday afternoon and Saturday morning free, and am thinking of getting out on a road bike.

Anyone got any experience of bike hire availability and/or routes from nearby?

I know I can do a search in MapMyRide and/or Google (and will be doing this), but am interested in any personal experience/advice from anyone who can give it.

  • Head out to a Stone mountain it's where a lot of Atlanta cyclists go. There is a trail from down town but best to find a route on strata or other sites. Generally good drivers and nice weather this time of year but be prepared for rain.

If you have time head up to Helen GA for some hills. It a 2hour drive

    Can't help re hire shops
  • Try and make a ride on the Silver Comet Trail if you can. My daughter lives in Atlanta, the Cabbagetown section, and its her favorite ride. You might try Atlanta Cycling or one of the numerous coops around Atlanta for a hire. Enjoy the stay, we were there last weekend, saw a Critical Mass Ride bunch on Carrol Street Friday evening. There was even one rider on a bone shaker cycle, modern version with pneumatic tyres in a bright green livery, the young chap was all smiles.
Lets just got for a ride, the heck with all this stuff...
