Hi all,

Im currently running a Merida big nine, bike is running all good parts but at 5ft 10 feel the 19" frame is just way to big. Thus its now time to replace the frame, really would like another big nine frame but a 17" Medium, struggling to find. So what would folk recommend, budget upto and no more £500.

I like but cant have, as mates currently running on-one lurcher, Cotic Soul. Oh and its nice to have frame/bike that is not as common as ell.

So far looking at these frames: On-one Parkwood, Kinesis FF29,Salsa 2014 El Mariachi ,2014 Canfield Nimble 9, Skookum 29er R853, Orange Clockwork.

Look forward to replys....

  • I am not sure that many will have ridden two or more of those frames and so able to offer a comparison.

I have built an FF29 with SLX drivetrain, reba forks and Arch Ex wheels and love it, but cannot say it is any better or worse than the others you list
  • Thanks for replys, I am drawn to a ff29. I take it reba forks were 100mm ? Where you happy with the 100mm or was you wanting more.....

I have x0 drive and gears to go on, with hope/flows and my 100mm reba xx to be swapped over...

Now trying to think of a good reason, to con her indoors on why I need a new frame......

A 'smaller' listed frame frame anther brand/model might even be larger than what you have! Study the geometry closely and compare.

Yes the Rebas are 100mm. I think they suit the bike fine as my riding is natural xc/singletrack. I have an FS if I need anything more
