Thinking of getting an action cam and after doing a little research i (think) ive narrowed it down to one of these two.

I can ge tthe gopro for £170 and the sony for £160

Any suggestions/experiences on which trumps the other?

EDIT. Seems these sj4000 Chinese replicas of the gopro are getting some good reviews for the price. Anyone use one?
There in Amazon for £76 which is almost £100 less than the gopro silver, just wondering if the gopro Quality is worth the extra :/

I was discussing this on another forum. Go Pro came up trumps, mostly because of the massive range of accessories available.
Here is one not to get: Sony HDR AS15. My mate has one and I borrow it from time to time (no idea why, tbh) - the lens fogs up internally and the internal mic is just dreadful
    Thats from another member.

Not sure if they got better with the as30

Only thing with gopro is you feel like your paying a massive premium for the name.

£170 for Gopro 3+, buy a few and sell them on for a profit on here

The SJ4000 gets great reviews for the price. Although if you can get a Gopro 3 for £170 then I'd be very tempted.

I've got the SJ4000. They're not bad for the cash.

Its only the silver though which can be got for £199 at a few places now. Just not sure if the gopro has enough extra quality to warrant the extra £100

    Looks OK on my connection.
Seriously tempted with the SJ4000 for the cash.

I've seen this vid a couple of times on different formats (iPad, PC, Galaxy S2) it looks great on some and rough on others (iPad isn't great). I'd be happy with the SJ4000 for the price.

@dirkpit Yea the vid looks OK but I think you loose PIC quality on YouTube after it compresses it.

Looks pretty poo to me.. but then I'm convinced YouTube have changed their settings or something. Some of my own vids on a Contour used to look a lot better!

Yeah raw footage is better than on YT. Battery life isn't great but it's good enough for all I'll ever use it for, plus spares are dirt cheap. GoPro 3s do look better, but for me not better enough to justify the hefty price. I'd be tempted at £170 though!
