This from Canyon. If the wheels account for 150g, that means 105 is now only 50g heavier than Ultegra?!

    "the 9.0 has R23's the 8.0 R24's, the R24's being about 150g heavier."

Just thinking of reasons for the delay: it may be due to the increasingly worrying seatpost/seatcollar cracking issue that had emerged in recent months, particularly as that seems to relate mostly to the 2.0 seatpost which comes as standard on the Endurace.

Maybe they're waiting for a new batch of posts or collars or even frames? Pure speculation but a worthy consideration.

Of course the email specifically referenced "some issues with the supply of the components" so it could just be Campagnolo, Ritchey or DT Swiss dragging their feet. Whatever the reason, i'm not too bothered so long as the lead time doesn't go out any further. Week 32 means most of August and all of September before it gets locked away for winter.

Just got an email from Canyon, stating that due to frame supply issues, my CF 9.0 would take another 3 weeks to be delivered. Just cancelled. Canyon bikes look fabulous, and are great value for money. But since it looks they are being victims of their own success, one would expect they would boost manufacturing ( yes, I know it´s all outsourcing, and they just assemble the damn things ) to a greater output. Apparently not.
I´ll be sticking to my Trek for the time being.

To be fair, a long wait (4 weeks +) doesn't seem to be all too uncommon when you buy outside of the major volume brands (Specialized, Giant, Trek, Bianchi, Felt, Cannondale etc.) and base models. It's easy to forget that what you're purchasing here is a high spec bike (sub 1kg carbon frame with tier 1/2 groupset).

How easy is it to get hold of a Wilier Cento Uno, Colnago C59, Cervelo R5 or even the top end models of the volume brands with a tier 1 or 2 groupset on lead time shorter than ~3 weeks? Not likely in the anecdotal experience of people I know.

Lead times are short when you want mid-low level frames with Shimano 105.

Went to Koblenz for a bike test. Did not ask about delivery etc because I'm not in such a hurry, but I wanted to get a feel of the bike. Initial observations:
    - The front end is indeed higher, but the shortened top tube is quite noticeable. I think that in my case (I tested the XL version) I'd need a stem of at least 120mm to put me in my preferred position.
    - The bike is seriously light, but not of course as light as some of SLX's I tried afterwards
    - The wheels look class (I tried the R23 Ultegra version) and run super smoothly on the 25c tyres. In fact they look good on the bike, sporty and not lethargic
    - Acceleration is however a little so-so. Maybe I was influenced by my stiff and unforgiving Ultimate AL, or by the SLX I tried after (with those SLR Mavics) but the bike - as expected - feels a little less eager to propel forward.
    - Bike balance is superb, but for those looking for super low position this bike is unsuitable. I guess spacers would need to go. Check this geometries spreadsheet I created in my quest of a new ride for many contemporary endurance-minded bikes: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
    - Stiffness is also a little pared back. Canyon does not allow test in normal terrain, you can only do it in their car park so judgement cannot be objective. I tried to do a little hard cornering and out-of-saddle pedalling and it was stable and predictable, but not racy. My impression is that the frame is plenty stiff but the wheels are not; let's wait for a pro review to verify.
    - Both Of the bike colours are similar. The one with the red decals is a little darker with a shiny black saddle, while the one with the blue decals has a more rough carbon looking coating. They look a little utilitarian, but they are well made, and very neat. They give the impression of being designed by engineers, with functionality mostly in mind (See attached pic)

all in all quite a positive experience.

Hey there. I am 1.91m (around 6'3' I guess) with an inside leg of 94.5cm, measured at Canyon, even though previous measurements put me a little lower at around 93cm. My weight is 82kg. The PPS 2.0 system they use (basically an Excel spreadsheet) pointed towards a 2XL bike, but the XL felt great, but I'd probably need a slightly longer stem.

Hi Nesfyl..I am similar weight 6' 2.5...with slightly smaller inside leg and PPS wanted me to order an XL, however i initially ordered L as i had a test run on two L sized canyons at the bike show in excel centre in February. after looking at geometry effective top tubes etc I changed the order to XL. I'm relieved somewhat that the XL fits you well, thanks for posting.

Truth be told I was also mulling the L, but after riding it it's definitely XL for me. From what you tell me I think this is the right size for you too.

I am 6ft 3 and 92 cm inseam. Advice was XL which has felt perfect for me

Border is 90cm inside leg for XL. My dimensions are just under 190cm 6'3" and inside leg 89cm never knew I had short legs!

I had an SL on order in XL size thinking I'd need the space. After changing to the Endurace I went to L as per site reco. My logic was I will get more comfort through a 2cm less reach and 1cm more stack than my current bike a Ribble and my reason for changing from the SL was to dial back the racy ness a smidgin. An L also looses the giraffe look !

Mine to build in next 48hrs so I should have it next Thursday.
  • I'm expecting the XL to be shipped any day now. @jerehada - how do you know your bike is about to be built? Canyon debited my credit card a week ago but no delivery confirmation yet. Customer service has been very poor, can't get a straight answer.

When you get your bike if you could be so kind as to post up your first impressions, mines due in about three weeks time, quite hard to find any reviews at the moment, don't think there's to many about.
  • will do hoody3000. I'm upgrading from a entry level specialized allez, can't wait to see the difference.

@ Marcus I received an email to say it was being built in the next 48 hours and then 24 hours later an email to say it was handed over to UPS and a link to track its delivery. I am on holiday overseas until next Wednesday so I'll have to organise a later delivery. I have not checked my credit card but if it's been sent sure I'll be charged...you need the UPS tracking info to know when it's coming.

@ hoody will defo give some first impressions I'm an intermediate rider fit but 45yrs young and 91kgs so it'll be from that perspective. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm in the Balearics doing a bit of climbing on a steel rental so I reckon it will feel fast.
  • A flurry of activity this week. Got my email to say the bike was being built, then 3 hours later saying it has been shipped. It turned up Friday.

The packaging is very good but I wouldn't like to have to return the bike as I'd never remember how it was put together.
It was very easy to put the bike together - just put on the front wheel and attach the handlebars to the stem.

I took it out for a 30k spin yesterday morning. Its worth noting I've only ever riden one other road bike - My Specialised Allez 2011 with Shimano 2300. I'd never tried better groupset or stiffer, lighter bikes before.

The bike is fantastic and looks great. I now understand what stiffness means. The bike really responds with no extra push required to get moving. It caught me out the first few times at traffic lights.
I found the ride position excellent, I wanted to be a bit more upright and it was very comfortable.
The bike is very light, I was surprised how noticeable this was. I was able to go faster up the hills with less effort. I was not as tired at the top, so I think I could go much faster.
Cornering and general handling was great, it felt more responsive than my Allez. The tyres are 25mm but look wider, this is down to the wheel design and should be a very comfortable ride. I only went for a short ride but the impact form vibrations was definitely less than my Allez. I expect the bike to be very comfortable.
My hands went a bit numb using the ultegra hoods but I'm sure this will be fine after a few rides.
I set a new PB for nearly every segment on Strava. I'm looking forward to getting it out for a longer run in the Surrey Hills when I get some bottle cages.

The Canyon customer service the only negative of the experience, their UK team doesn't have a lot of detail about what is happening in Germany. Unfortunately, I have to deal with them again as the spare derailleur hanger I ordered was not sent and they appear to have put the wrong saddle on the bike - it is not the Fizik Aliante VS .

I've been watching this thread with interest. I had an initial dispatch date of week 27. This, like everyone else was put back, now its week 30, which is this week coming. Fingers crossed that it gets dispatched at the start of the week, i cant wait much more!
I have to say the contact I have had with UK customer services has been good. Always getting a next day email reply to questions and good help when wanting to swap out some parts on the bike etc. So far, so good. That is presuming it gets here soon and the changed parts ordered are included and fitted!!

Mine arrived last wed waiting in UBS warehouse for my return from hols :( will do the flat Essex castles ride next sat..
  • I am thinking about ordering one of these and have just entered all the measurements into Canyon's PPS measurement thing and it is saying I need a 56cm M which seems a little small to me after reading the rest of this thread.

My height is 185cm with an inseam measurement of 85cm and 69cm Torso measurement.

M seems a little small to me.

    Any ideas / suggestions?

    Thanks

When I put my measurements into Canyon's PPS I was coming out needing a small.
Taking the dimensions from my current bike it was much nearer to a medium than a small.
I decided to give Canyon a ring and get there advice and was told it was medium I needed, so if I was you I would give them a ring and see what they have got to say.
I will only know how good the advice was when it turns up !
    FYI I'm 5ft 10in with an inseam of 32 1/2in

Canyon's PPS seems to base the size entirely on inseam. I'm also 5'10" and my inseam is between 32.5" and 33". I got an Ultimate CF in size M and it's spot on. The Endurace geometry is slightly different but the sizes should match up about the same.

I haven't tried the Canyon PPS thing. I took the geometry to a bike fitter who has a bike jig. Tried sizes out and settled for an XS. I'm 5ft7, not sure about inseam, trousers usually have to be 29" leg. I do have quite a short reach. Will be interesting to see how I get on. I hope we got it right, I've spent years riding a frame that has been to big for me!

    Waiting for my Endurace
Ordered bike a couple of days after they appeared.
Delayed by 3 weeks and due to be shipped this week but no email received yet.
5ft 8.5in tall and 30 inch inseam so getting small size.
Also went for for more setback seatpost.

Had 'putting it together, shipping in 48hours' email this morning, then 1 minute later, the 'been dispatched and now with UPS' email! Fingers crossed for safe passage.
  • island991 - Should be with you in a couple of days if my UPS experience is anything to go by. The saddle my bike was sent with was a Selle Italia Race. This one in black -> https://www.canyon.com/_en/outlet/artic ... o=A1031895

Canyon are sending me the correct saddle (in august) and the missing derailleur hanger. I doubt any will be shipped with the Fizik Aliante until mid-August when they are due to be back in stock.

Are you having to send the other saddle back or are they just posting you one out when they get them? I also ordered an extra hanger so will see if I have the same issue. I presume Canyon UK were fine about them both?
  • Hi, has anyone seen any professional reviews? I've seen one "first look" type review on RoadCyclingUK but nothing else. I'm 178cm and 85cm inseam and was recommended a M which I think is about right given the geometry.

No reviews that I know of yet. A 'first look' was also done by BikeRadar and road.cc. Interestingly Cycling Plus (Aug issue) has the endurace in a special 'dream bike' section at the end among bikes costing at least 3 times as much. The piece is the same 'first look' text seen elsewhere though.
