    Thanks for the memories of familiar clothing and equipment and those "Alloy water bottles" (with a horrible taste) but the brake cables had been reduced when I started.

    I see he raced against Bob Thom who I knew when he was GB Mechanic; I used to visit his workshop in Wolverhampton, a real Alladin's cave. Bob got me my first track bike.

    According to Pennine Cycles, the cycle shop which Whittaker and Mapplebecks where Ken worked eventually morphed into, Ken sadly passed away at the weekend.

    Don't know when he worked there, but thatw as my local bike shop as a kid. My first 'good' bike was a Pennine.
