Hello!

I have a set of the Planet X AL30 wheelset, they have been quite good but recently, when i get out of the saddle and put pressure on whilst riding up a hill, I can just hear a big creak from the wheel whilst applying the pressure...?

Your thoughts would be massively appreciated...

Thanks

    How old are they?

Have you checked 'bars, etc as per posts infinitum passim?

    Skewer too tight?
  • If it is defo wheel - loose spoke(s)? Is the wheel true?

Or could it be from the headset? Any play or binding in the headset? Strip down, clean up and re-grease anyway is never a bad idea.

Check for any cracks in the rim. I had the exact same problem it turned out to be a small almost hairline crack in the rim. new rim :(

Have you tried a different wheel to make sure is is actually the wheel?

^^^What Matthew said above, and I wouldn't go tightening up everything and risking stripping out something or distorting a part. If the wheel substitution doesn't tell you the problem, pull things down and clean/grease the head set, use anti-seize on all the threaded parts and tighten to the specified torque settings.
Lets just got for a ride, the heck with all this stuff...
