Broken Front Mech

Cleaning the bike today I noticed the front mech has broken - one of the corners of the rectangular "cage" is snapped. I don't know when it happened and it still works fine shifting but it obviously needs replacing. I have ordered a replacement front mech but it won't arrive for a few days and I am going away for the week and taking the bike with me. Is there likely to be any issue using the current, broken mech for a week, what's the worst that can happen?

if the break is in a position where the chain could catch it then the worst might be a jammed chain, which may cause more damage and/or an accidentmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0
