Guard fell off chainstay

This aluminum plate fell of my chainstay today while i was giving the bike a clean.

It was stuck on the chainstay under the chainrings, I suppose to protect the carbon frame.

I cleaned it, and it seems some bike lube got under it and it just came off.

Is it IMPORTANT for me to stick it back? Or just ignore it?

I can get some double sided 3M tape and do it, even though the clearance will be very very tight, without actually taking the chainrings off?

Thanks

It's up to you. Do you want something protecting your frame there or not?

    but its so flimsy...

is my thinking then of using double sided sticky tape ok?

or is there a better way?

    Thanks

flimsy, but still probably a lot tougher than the coating on the frame itself

as long as the tape is water/oil resistant it should be fine
