Presta valve core removal

Undid dust cap off Presta valve, unscrewed little brass fitting on Presta valve, pushed valve core in to release valve, attached pump and inflated tyre to desired pressure. Removed pump and started to tighten up and lock valve and the little brass thing just snapped off.
Tyre has remained at correct pressure.
How can I remove Presta valve core...do I need a special tool egs Park Tools VC1 and if so will it removea valve core that is damaged in this way.
Or should I forget it and just stick a new inner tube in !!
Tubes seem cheap enough and the Parks Tool seems expensive for what it is

If it's a removable valve core there will be flats on the threaded section at the top where the valve cap screws down. You can get these off with a pair of pliers. But most tubes don't have removable cores. And a new core can cost as much as a tube.0

Or just get an old tube from a mate/shop and take the old core out of that.
Tube or tub - cores are same shouldn't be too hard to track one down.

If its a removable core vittoria do a little plastic key, which unlike pliers don't risk doing more damage.0

So do Continental - and I presume everyone else.
Conti's comes free when buying valve extenders.
