Here is my Focus Cayo EVO 1.0 Build.
The frame was a warranty replacement for my 2011 Cayo ltd.
Decided to build up with new components.
Went for a ride today and it was sublime

That really does look "the biz" (whatever the biz is). Those wheels look perfect on it!
  • Thats beautiful in a modern, functional way.

Agree with nweststeyn, the wheels are spot on. The tyres look more a dark grey than black? Beautiful.
  • I like the way the rear mech cable enters the frame.

I came very close to buying a Cayo Evo 1 but I purchased the Look 675 :D . The Evo 1 is a beautiful ride
but I didn't much care for the Vision wheels that it came with, I do however like the wheels you have.

    Very nice bike...enjoy.

Weight of the whole bike if you dont mind me asking?
  • Looking lovely. But them I'm biased as I also own a much loved Cayo Evo.

What happened to your 2011 frame?

Lovely bike. Like your attention to detail with the FSA logo alignment. Nice bit of OCD :D

looks great, esp as pointed out the OCD on the logo's - though not a fan of the pedals

They are black, i just think that due to the gloss black rims it shows as grey

As do i, its a nice touch

mmmm.Look! Very nice. I think the wheels are what sets it apart. They also ride really, really well - even compared to some Ambrosio excellights i have

Thanks. The LTD had worn dropouts from the threaded axels on the hubs

The pedals are what i know and are cheap. Gone over budget with the build and will have to wait until the new year for new pedals and shoes

  • Hi Matt, nice build you got there. I have the stock Cayo Evo 1 2013 with campy all over it. I really love my bike. Looking at yours and then mine is really strange for me (in a nice way :D) with your Shimano components.

I think the contrast of colours on this frame is the best I have seen for a while. The 2013 models look better than the new 2014 frames. Here a pics of mine for comparison.

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

I have replaced the pedals with 6800 Ultegra and they are much nicer.
I have also weighed it. 7.55kgs including pedals, cages and K-edge mount.

  • Really nice build.

How does it ride with that big stick hanging out from the saddle?
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

    Thanks.
The stick can be an inconvenience but useful for batting horse riders on the backside when the need arises

Not a big fan of Tan sidewalls on a modern looking bike, looks much better before.

I suppose it's just a matter of taste. I quite like them and think it actually looks better now than the all black tyres but I'd be curious how much work it takes to keep them looking good? I reckon the sidewalls get dirty pretty quickly?
