Are they interchangeable? More specifically, is it possible to use 9000 or 6800 bottom brackets with a 5700 crankset?

Yeah they're all the same internal diameter. I'm currently using a 6800 bb with an old Tiagra crank. The new ones have a smaller outside diameter but there is a tool included for installation.

    Yep, I'm using a 7900 BB with a 6600 chainset on one bike and a 9000BB with a 6800 chainset on another.

The ultegra grade BB seems to last longer than the lower grade ones

Hope make a replacement BB that is even better, with stainless steel bearings. Have this on the best bike :)

CRC have Ultegra ones for £13.99 at the moment. Got Evans to price match and picked one up on the way home the other evening.

Edit: Having just bought one I get an email from Merlin with the same one discounted to £10.75. Typical!
