Depends on the spec, condition etc.

As above, though I would be more tempted by the Carve as it is a newer bike. The 2013 Carves onwards are lighter than the original Carve bikes and if you want a fast, stiff XC bike they are a good deal at £400 in the right condition.

The carve is the 2012 expert model
And the marin is the 2011 b17 I like both but don't know much about bikes
    Both are in good condition

    Hi

I have a 2012 Carve Expert and love it.

If I recall where the B17 was within the Marin range then the 2 bikes are very different.

The B17 was a more entry level hard hitting HT.

Whereas the Carve is a ground covering xc machine without being too xc racer orientated.

That's without bringing wheel size in to the equation.

What style of riding suits you best?

Tbh I'm not to sure as I'm new to all this but where I live there's lots of woods and cycle tracks everywhere it's more for fitness at the moment until I get in to in big time also does anyone know of decent places to ride in Hertfordshire

From that I'd say Carve for sure. If the condition is ok.

Mine is a 2013 model and I think it is spot on tbh.
