Hi all

As a new londoner i ve only ever heard you lot go on about these things. Apparently there is one tonight and I'm thinking of heading down just to see for myself (unless it starts chucking down). Anyone got any tips? How long will it last approx. I ve got to be up for an MTB event tomorrow so...

Cheers all

I found they and similar events tended to enforce the image of cyclists as other rather than one of us as in makes cyclist look like the odd crowd.

Sounds like a good way to piss people off and wrongly give cycling a bad reputation

There is one local to me, seems like all it will achieve is to annoy other road users so I keep clear of it.

Put it this way: Other than giving the participants a "tribe" to feel they belong to, and p*ssing off other road users (thereby reinforcing any anti-cycling sentiment), what do these rides actually achieve?

Are they any fun for said participants?

I'm actually thoroughly uninterested in the politics of it, I just fancy doing something tonight in this magic 9so i'm told), exciting (apparently) city other than riding home and watching something in netflix...

Personally wouldn't bother but go along and make up your own mind, you can always peel off.

    Attend.
    Wind up a few people.
    Leave.

    Much like here then.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Well It did rain and I got cold enough on my 40min ride home to know that I did nt wear anything like enough clothes to go for a cold wet slow ride around London. Next month...

We could probably manage about eight cyclists, a couple of gert big horses and some tractors... Probably not enough for critical mass

How can 'wind' have any critical mass, or is it noisy because of the 'splash'?

This vegetarianism sounds iffy to me.

It's the spluttering noise as the gas passes through the semi fluid mix that gives the veggies away........

It would be more accurate to talk about passing a tree out of your arse backwards. The term "bog blocking turd the size of a submarine" would be appropriate.

Giving birth? Pah. Couple or 3 times in a life. Try a high fibre diet you wimps.
