Tan lines seared in....

My 14 year-old and I took the chance to ride over for a family visit during Easter. 70 miles of fairly hilly countryside on Good Friday and one of my first rides this year in shorts and short sleeves.

Even though the tan is more a slap-in-the-chops shade of crimson blush than a hearty Gold Coast Roast, I can proudly report that both my upper arms and my thighs have razor-sharp lines and that I am now a proper cyclist again.

All I need to do now is shed 10 Kg or grow six inches and I might even look the part.

    Tan lines are overrated especially if you have different length shorts.

    They are all I have... My weight is wrong, my times are slow, my bike is old, my tyres are cracked, my gearchange is noisy and unpredictable.

    Please do not tarnish my joy in my only credible and visible record of my cycling.... :(
