Disc brake wheels , low spoke count

I fancy building myself a pair of wheels for my disc braked road bike. I am about 75kg and fairly easy on wheels. I have both 24 and 28 spoked rims. Am I pushing my luck a bit with discs? rumours abound about discs needing a higher spoke count.
Just to complicate, both sets are sprints. I have the rims and hubs so its just for the hell of it really but at the same time I don't want iffy wheels or damaged parts.

    The (well regarded as strong) Kinesis Crosslight Disc wheels are 28 spokes, so that should be OK - as long as you dont set the spokes up radially. The 24 may be pushing the limits of what is sensible but I am guessing should just about be OK.

    People do run lower spoke counts and I havent heard of them dieing but personally I wouldnt want a 24 as presumably you would put it on the front and thats where most of the braking force will be. http://fernandoj.wordpress.com/2013/11/ ... clo-cross/

    The weight difference between 24 and 32 spokes is around 60g. Do you really want to swap security and reliability for such a small weight saving?

    That's the conclusion I always come to whenever I am planning wheels in a spreadsheet that I use for the purpose.

    Nope. I just have those rims and matching disc hubs so it would be nice to build some. Less spoke looks nice as the silver seems to sparkle more

    You can build the 28 at 3 cross (2 if the hubs have a big flange like the old XT) and they will be fine. 24 is a bit under, but you might be fine there too. Whatever you do, only build 2 or 3 cross for the 28 and 2 cross for the 24... don't use any other pattern

    28H rims and hubs are best 3x I agree for disc brake builds. Shimano CX-75 hubs come in 28H. 24H disc brake hubs exist but no one in the U.K stocks them at present for after market builds at least I do not know anyone who does.
