Just fitted 6800 to my Felt F1 using the FS BB30 BB and reducer cups that was supplied with the frame.
Fitted OK and doesn't appear to be any play in the cranks but it just doesn't look right so can any one confirm...

That exposed bearing does NOT look right at all.
My take is if you cannot live with bb30 then do a permanent swap out using the fsa adaptor for external cups - a once off conversion.

    Thanks
Not sure which photo your referring to with the exposed bearing.
1st photo is before the 24mm adapter is pressed fully in.
2nd photo is just a pcis of the adapter with the seal/washer slipped on.
3rd photo is the whole lot pressed in and assembled. There are NO bearings exposed as they are inside the shell, correctly pressed in against the circlip.
The gap that is present between the adapter and BB shell just seems odd, but maybe meant to be like this?

When it starts creaking, toss the lot and buy a Praxis works or KCNC
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I'm not sure about that specific adapter, but I do notice that the little retaining clip on the NDS crank is not pressed in. This should be done after adjusting the preload but before tightening the pinch bolts. If it won't go in, that usually means the crank isn't far enough onto the spindle.

Also, I'm not sure off the top of my head if you're supposed to use the bearing shields with those adapters, I thought not - have you checked? That could be why there's an odd gap.

    Yeh, already looking into them!

Retaining clip etc.. all sorted now work in progress when I took the photo.
I assembled without the shields first but couldn't get the bearings pre-loaded.
Maybe it needs the shims instead of the shields... Or the wavy washers (like campagnolo UT wazy washers)?

    cheers

    Update....
Chucked the FSA adapters in the bin and fitted the Wheels Manf' ones.
Completely different, pre-loaded bearings nicely, no play, cranks spin freely.
    = Result!

(now lets see how long the bearings last!)

Any photo of the completed setup? I'm about to do the same on my bike. Thanks.

Sorry its crap best I could do at the time....

Also, this comes direct from Saddleback, Felt Distributer, Praxis etc adapters won't fit this frame (just as well I didn't buy one!).
Also you do not need the snap rings/circlips. The bearings press in against the "ridge" that is moulded inside the shell. You'll see it when you look. Saddleback recommend and use the Wheels Manufacturing adapters.
Also bearings should be pressed in with a light smear of grease.

    Hope this helps...
