In London this Friday

I'm popping over to our London office on Friday and was thinking of Boris biking instead of taking the tube or bus as I usually do. Will be training into London Bridge and heading up Bishopsgate to just past Liverpool Street station, and was hoping to have time to potter over to Camden at some point.

As I've never cycled in London (in fact, I haven't cycled in the UK at all for nigh on 20 years, let alone used an ASL before!), any tips/advice for surviving that part of town would be gratefully received.

There has been a lot of building work around Bishopsgate, as a consequence the roads have quite a few pot holes and uneven surfaces, if you keep an eye out for them it should be fine, they're nothing major but if it's raining avoid the puddles.

Don't pass big vehicles on the left (even if there's a bike lane).
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
  • Jesus, I'm never going to grumble about the condition of the roads back home again!
