Due to some ..ahem.. interesting conversation, the old Cotic thread was closed. Here is the replacement.

So to get us underway again...my BFe

150mm Rev
XT 2 x 10
Reverb
780 bar/60mm stem
Crest/Switch wheels (I know, I know, "Crests aren't strong enough for a BFe" well I haven't buckled them yet)

First dry and sunny outing of the year! Also my first go at QECP with the BFe, lots of strava PB's on the downs and more importantly, lots more fun than any other bike I have owned!

Also have an Escapade frame and fork in the post, which will be used for a bit of gravelly/muddy fun so I think it qualifies for this side of the forum.. Will add pictures when its built.

My first Cotic Soul, finished building it today, after taking delivery of the 203mm rotor that you need if you're gonna run a X-Fusion Slant....who knew. Learnt alot on this build.

Everything pretty much with bearings is hope, Shimano XT drive chain, my trusty 2010 SLX brakes came across from my Genesis Core 50, finished off with Superstar bling (Pedals, headset, even the disc rotor bolts are orange!)

First proper ride is a night one, tomorrow!

IMHO that was unfortunately harsh, locking the other thread and ruining it for everyone - dodn't see why they couldn't just slap some wrists and delete the offending posts. :?
  • love these bikes, wishI could have afforded one.

    Both look awesome

Any excuse, pics from last year but the only thing that's changed are the bars, gone are the Haven's, replaced with some Fatbar Lites, which I'm not sure I like the shape of. Great bikes :D

Be interested to here your views on the escapade. I keep thinking that kinda bike would be cool and pretty versatile, my XC trails back home are relatively tame and on the mtb's they can get a little repetitive, so thinking a kind of dual purpose flat-bar CX/road bike could be pretty handy as a bit of a change up so I can go out on the road as well. Plus it obviously satisfies the N+1 requirement once I finished my next mtb build :D

    Its an Escapade.

Lawman: that was exactly my thinking. The New Forest is too bumpy for a road bike and not bumpy enough fir the BFe. This should fill the gap nicely once its got some fat 32's on it. Plus it looks a lot better than all of the weird shaped carbon fibre bollocks with 400 logos that seems to be 'in' these days

I sure like the idea of one just to piss around one, was looking at the escapade and the Kinesis Crosslight, could build either with a decent spec for around a grand or so.

This has cost me around £800. My old bike donated the groupset and finishing kit which meant I could splash out a bit on wheels and brakes.

Thats a very good price! Looking at the Kinesis frame, fork and wheels, 1x slx, 105 crank with a narrow/wide chainring and some bargain bits for finishing kit I priced around £1200, the Cotic frames are cheaper by a few hundred quid but don't come with a carbon fork, so they'll probably be heavier as well, not that I'd be that bothered for once! Also like the look of the Transition rapture, which is a copy of something but can't remember what!

The Cotic frame and fork isnt light but mine has turned out at 10.3kg with no fancy bits so its not too bad. Lighter than a Croix de Fer anyway. Its not really a weight weenie bike though.
