Hi, I just bought a BBB riser stem with intention of flipping it on my track bike and road bike when I'm going to use my aero setup for the TT/pursuit sessions.

Now, I read (in the instructions) that this stem cannot be flipped.

Is it just really boll*cs or am I really gonna break my neck when I try to use it for my intented purpose? :-)

    Do they give a reason?
It may be to cover their ass in case you were to flip the stem and end up with a dangerous setup somehow, though I can't see how.
    I doubt it's a structural issue.
  • No reasons, I think it's like you say, to cover themselves in advance if somebody fails due to too agressive position. Just wanted to make sure and listen to opinions. :-)

PS. They aren't even allowing -17 stem to be flipped...

They would say that the reason is that it is designed for the loads it takes when pointing upward and not those when it is pointing downward.

In reality, it will probably be fine.
    Red bikes are the fastest.

Will it clear the top of the headset/frame when it's pointing down?

Might need a spacer under it to prevent that.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

I'll check that. I've got 2 spacers so I can move them around if required. Cheers
