Perfect Pro
Simple game for Friday... (no histrionics please - dopers more than welcome)
Pick a combination of your perfect pro rider / kit / bike / parcours
Add a scenario if you wish.
Rider: Tommy Voeckler
Kit: Team-Z
Bike: Cervelo R5 (with Team-Z colourway of course)
Parcours: A classic tour day in the Alpes
Something like this from 2006 (which incidentally was the Etape route that year)
It's Bastille day. Cancellara is in yellow. TV sits some 50 secs behind the main GC contenders. He bridges solo to the break of 7 over the Izoard. The peloton control at 3:30 going up the Lautaret, TV and one other clip off over the summit. A select group hunt down the exploded break in the valley. TV goes alone up the Alpe with the contenders tearing up behind. He takes victory and yellow by seconds.

Great thread. If I may channel Jamie Redknapp for a moment... top, top thread.

Dolomites... has to go over the Gavia. Gibo in his imperious 2003 form jumps sits in as a select group whittles itself down before jumping with 10km to go on the Gavia. Cresting the summit with 2 minutes in hand, he gains another 30s on the descent to the finish in Bormio."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

The Rider...man of the moment for me...bit of a crush
The kit...peerless in design worn by Lemond and The Badger
The bike...Wilier Le Roi. I remember looking at photos of the Lampre Wiliers circa 2006/2007 and wanting to cry because I thought they were so beautiful. This is Ballans which I found on t'internet and I think it is fit for the purpose of the parcours
The Parcours...What else but Paris Roubaix. The scenario is 2014, Spartacus has tried to ride the race off his wheel. Stybar has been tasked with trying to get Boonen across the gap to Fab. He has buried himself in the service of his team leader but Boonen punctures. Sooner than lose contact with Cancellara Stybar is allowed to ride on and after 2 or 3 attempts by both riders to drop each other Stybar prevails0 -
Peril: I bet you could get one of those WIliers for a fair price now!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I still dream of a Cannondale Six13..."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

My stage would be a lumpy one. They would start by going over the Stelvio before descending to Bolzano. From there they would swing north up to San Leonardo and climb the Timmelsjoch. They would then descend that towards Solden before turning left just before there and climbing to a summit finish at Rettenbachferner.
All told around 70km of climbing.0 -

Terrain:
Scenario:
A freak tear in time puts a number of riders in their respective peak forms together.
Museeuw is alongside Boonen on the Flandrian bianchi team.
They're in an elite group, heading towards the Kapelmuur with Cancellara, Gilbert, Peter van Petergem, Hoste, and Devolder (teammate with Cancellara). They've been whittled down, by a number of different attacks by members of the group, trying to make the selection.
It's bad weather. Angry Kapelmuur guy is going bananas......
