Has anyone done this event before?

Was checking through the BC site at the weekend and spotted it, It's listed as a sportive but sounds more like a reliabilty ride, ie only a fiver and no frills. Guessing it's more aimed at club riders so hoping most people in it are likely to be sporting mudguards as it's this weekends and the roads are covered in crap?

  • I did it last year, really nice little no frills event. Most people were pretty well prepaid with guards etc last year and the route was really good. The roads round these parts aren't actually too bad at the moment. I'll be heading down there for it on Sunday.

I did it last year and will probably be in again on Sunday.
It's definitely more reliability than sportive but, as such, it is well organised.
The new start/finish location (WW1 airfield) is a plus point.
Our club will ride with mudguards

ETA. The long range forecast is for strong SW winds which will make this a real stamina test. Riding back from Denge will be very exposed so 80mm Carbon wheels are probably best left at home. This also means that Dowsett's North Hill KOM should be safe. :D
