Hi Everyone,

Today while cleaning my bike (I use Muc Off products) I noticed white spots on my front rim (Shimano RS80 C50).

Might sound a silly question, whats going on to my rim? Can I still go for a ride?

Below two pictures of my injured rim :(

Thanks in advance,

It looks like the clear coat is coming off, I have no doubt that someone will give you more detail.
  • Emanuele ma che ci fai in 'sto paese dove piove sempre?

I guess it's normal, just the coat chipping off... nothing to worry about

  • I see, thanks for the replies, anyone who could tell me more about it? Could it be the muc off bike cleaner (they say is carbon fibre safe)? The wheelset is relatively new, around 3500km, I am quite surprised, the front rim is full of spots (full for me means 4 or 5 spots :P ) and all on left side :(

Ps se ti riferisci a UK..sappi che vivo in un posto ancora peggio, senza estate :P

Do you keep your bike next to a radiator?

  • Sorry for the delay. No, the bike is not next to a radiator. I keep my bike in my bedroom where the heating is never on. avg. temp 14 degrees c.

Ok. Just thought stuff like clear coat could possibly bubble as a result of being heated.
